Mount Saint Vincent Volunteer Day

By Robin Hoogerhyde,v1

On Saturday, November 5, members of the Denver Bar Association Young Lawyer’s Division met at Saint Ann’s Lodge in Bailey, Colorado, to help clean the Lodge for the children and staff of Mount Saint Vincent Home. Mount Saint Vincent is a treatment center for children with several behavioral and emotional challenges due to mental illness, trauma, abuse, or neglect. Saint Ann’s Lodge is used by the children for recreational therapy and is an opportunity for the kids to connect with nature including fishing, hiking, and outdoor recreation. The Lodge is also used by the staff of Mount Saint Vincent as a retreat.

Members donated hours of their time to clean the kitchen, bathrooms, dorm rooms, andv2 great room of the Lodge to improve stays for the children and staff. Cleaning included flipping mattresses, washing walls, cleaning upholstery, scrubbing toilets, and organizing the kitchen and dining areas. After completing the clean-up, members enjoyed drinks and snacks and members were invited to stay overnight at the Lodge.

The YLD hopes to partner with Mount Saint Vincent in the future on other volunteer projects. Please consider joining us at our next event!
